Nadia : The land of Gouranga Mahaprabhu. Sanskrit teaching is a unique tradition of the district. Sculpture, mainly earthen, is a well-known exercise of this district. Diversified agricultural activity is of high standard.

Krishnanagar, also called KRISHNAGAR, city, administrative headquarters of Nadia district, just south of the Jalangi River. A road and rail junction, it is the major agricultural distribution centre for the district. Sugar milling is the major industry, and Ghurni, a suburb, is famous for the manufacture of coloured clay figures. The city, constituted a municipality in 1864, contains the residence of the maharaja of Nadia and is a Christian evangelistic centre. It is also the site of a hospital, a horticultural research station and jute nursery, and an agricultural training centre. A large fair is held annually.

Krishnanagar clay dolls:bringing life to the clayKrishnanagar city is just south of the Jalangi River and became a municipality in 1864. It is the headquarters of Nadia district. The city is a major road and rail junction. Suburban train services connect Krishnanagar city to Sealdah (Calcutta). Krishnanagar is famous for its clay dolls which are made in the suburb of Ghurni on the Jalang river. The Krishnanagar Palace and the Roman Catholic Church are attractions of the city. The religious  spots of Nabadwip, Shantipur and Mayapur are nearby.
